    What's the size this will accept for cards Glen. Craig told me in the other thread that he thought units similar would ony take 2gb cards and AEM uses 4gb.

    I have an HDI and no problem running AEM. I think the first generation elite were limited in card size all good with HDI and chirp.

    You might be right Tony. I looked around the interweb and there were some reports of software updates not working on cards over 2 GB. The HDI came out in 2013, you wouldn't think they'd have such a size restriction.

    Edit - just saw Santana's post. Looks like the HDI is fine for AEM.

    Nice find @glennie_rapala !

    Original Elite-5 and DSI models I believe can only take 2 GB card. HDI and CHIRP can use bigger.

    For anyone wanting to use AEM with the original Elite 5 or DSI, we can program a 2GB card for you, that can be used in any unit if you decide to upgrade....but the standard cards we sell in stores are 4GB.

    Just checked the post in the other thread @Tony ....had my models confused, said "DSI" but should have said "HDI". Sorry for the confusion!

    Its nice to see the prices on all these units (large and small) starting to drop a bit - sales galore on Lowrance and Bird units - they are worth nowhere near what we pay, but we do pay it, and the prices stay up.
    My iPhone has 100-1000x the computing power that the $1500-4000 sonars have, for a fraction of the price.

    The unit is now sold out, I ordered one this past Friday, scheduled for delivery to Pembina by end of day tomorrow, $299 usd is $400 cdn, free shipping, sonar units are duty free, pay the pst and gst at the border which is another $52, so for $452 all in an Elite 7 CHIRP. I know the units refurbished but for that price just couldn't resist. Going to run it just as a plotter so I can start to use AEM.

    Holy SHIT...ease up there Bryan...just because I ordered an actual Lowrance product last Friday, I'm still dealing with the rash and hives I got when I hit the "ADD TO CART" button. :D:D:D Doesn't seem like the prescription is working, it's getting worse.....who knows what might happen when I touch the actual box! Touch the actual product! I'm scared! I'll just have to wear gloves!

    If I didn't have so much invested in my Humminbird product, you never know.........I just might, just so I can be allowed to hang with the "good" crowd! :p:eek:

    That rash, I think it's called Humminbird Herpes. :D After a few months of clean living and regular use of Lowrance products, there's no more outbreaks during times of stress.

    You should throw the HDI Skimmer ducer up for sale if this is exclusively a mapping unit for you. That'll make it a really cheap mapping unit.

    Picked her up today............guess that creme the doctor gave me is working, touched the box, took the unit out.......no rash, no hives! Refurbished unit looks brand new, brand new 'ducer that I will probably throw up for sale.........hopefully the unit works when I install it in the spring!
